The first time I was introduced to Star Trek I was a very young child hanging out with my father
while he was watching Star Trek: The Next Generation. I remember being lulled into a peaceful
sleep by the sounds of Capt. Picard, Deanna Troi, William Riker, and Beverly Crusher going where
                        no one had gone before.

I was reintroduced to the world of Star Trek in my early 20's and was able to understand and
appreciate the complexity of the characters and storyline. I love the idea of living in a world
where equality is the norm, poverty and hunger have been eliminated, and humans can literally
                        reach for the stars.
I find comfort in engrosing myself in the world of Trek. I find I learn more after each watch
through, specifically watching Captain Janeway and Seven of Nine in Voyager and Commander Hoshi
Sato in Enterprise. Seeing how each of these women handle hard moral delemas gives me hope for
                        humanity.
